Arlene Simatupang was born and raised in Jakarta and attended college in Orange County, CA. She is a proud OC alum who still loves the beach. After graduating, she returned to Jakarta and worked as a marketing executive across various industries.
In 2003, she met Pastor Oyan while they were both serving as lay leaders in a young adult ministry. They married in 2005 and are raising two daughters, Tedra and Katriel. After becoming a mother, Arlene took a season away from corporate work to focus on family life. During that time, she continued ministering in different areas, including children’s ministry, couples counseling, and leadership in the parent advisory group at their daughters’ school. Her family remains a grateful recipient of her love for cooking and baking.
Arlene completed her Master of Arts in Theology and Ministry (MATM) through distance learning at Fuller Seminary. When Christ the King Church (CTK) was founded, she served as Co-Lead Pastor from the beginning, shaping the life of the community alongside Pastor Oyan. In 2025, she became the Lead Pastor of CTK. Her deep pastoral heart, combined with natural leadership skills and a steady presence, equip her to guide CTK into its next season as a community seeking to embody Christ’s kingship through grace, truth, and belonging.
Discerning the need to further deepen her theological reflection and ministerial formation, Arlene will begin her Doctor of Ministry (DMin) studies in 2026 at Fuller Seminary in the Ministry and Leadership in Changing Asian Contexts cohort. The program focuses on ministry in multifaith and rapidly changing Asian settings, emphasizing polycentric leadership rooted in Trinitarian theology, spiritual formation, and disciplemaking.
